North Battleford, SK — January 22, 2026
The Battlefords Healthcare Foundation (BHC Foundation) is honored to share that 101submissions with 63 nominees have been received for the upcoming Healthcare Heroes Celebration, a powerful reflection of the compassion, dedication, and care shown by healthcare professionals across our region.
The Healthcare Heroes Celebration will take place on Thursday, March 12th, at the Dekker Centre and is an annual event hosted by the BHC Foundation as a way of giving back to those who give so much every day. Unlike many Foundation initiatives, Healthcare Heroes is not a fundraiser. Instead, it is a night dedicated entirely to recognition, gratitude, and appreciation, honouring the people who care for our community during its most vulnerable moments.
The evening will bring together healthcare workers, community members, and leaders and will feature remarks from Health Minister, Jeremy Cockrill, along with the Mayors of Battleford and North Battleford. Guests will also hear powerful stories of heart, courage, and compassion that highlight the human side of healthcare, and the profound impact local healthcare teams have on patients and families.
“This event exists for one simple reason: to say thank you,” said Leanne Ducommun, Executive Director of the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation.
“Healthcare Heroes is our opportunity to pause and recognize the incredible people who show up for our community every single day. The number of nominations we received speaks volumes. Each one represents a moment of care, kindness, or courage that made a lasting difference in someone’s life. This night is about honoring those moments and the people behind them.”
Throughout the evening, all nominees will be acknowledged and celebrated for the meaningful role they play within our healthcare system. The Foundation believes it is important to create space not only to raise funds for healthcare, but also to recognize, uplift, and stand beside the people who provide that care.
With limited seating available and strong community interest, this event is expected to sell out. Community members are encouraged to reserve their seats early and be part of an evening that turns appreciation into presence and gratitude into action.
Healthcare Heroes is more than an event; it is a collective expression of respect, appreciation, and community pride.
Show your support. Be part of gratitude in action.
